Although Santos want to keep playmaker Lucas Lima at the club, his representatives take the 25-year-old’s transfer to Europe this summer for granted.
According to Lance!, there would be advanced negotiations with two clubs, one from Portugal and one from England. Both clubs are interested in the player who has excelled not only for Santos, but also for the Brazilian national team. Lucas hopes to have gratitude and recognition of Santos to facilitate his departure in the middle of the year when the transfer window opens, recalling that he refused proposals from other countries. Lucas also opted not to go to the court against Santos, when his teammates filed lawsuits following a delay in payment of wages.
Santos president Modesto Roma said that Lucas Lima deserves a pay rise after his performances in the Paulistão, and will propose to increase his wages in the coming days. Santos are willing to offer Lucas Lima monthly wages of €75,000 which is above the team’s €50,000 salary cap. It may seem attractive, but desire of Lucas is to make the move to Europe in the transfer window which opens next month.
