One of the most valued players in the Grêmio squad at the moment, young midfielder Walace received a new enquiry from a European club. Portuguese side Benfica are interested in signing the 21-year-old in the next transfer window. The information is from Portuguese newspaper A BOLA, and Walace is touted as a possible substitute for Renato Sanches, who moved to Bayern Munich for a transfer fee which could reacy a staggering €80 million. Walace is very highly rated at the club, and the Italian press likened him to Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba recently. He scored four goals in 2016, three of them in the Gauchão, against Juventude and Passo Fundo [twice] and over LDU in the Libertadores. As mentioned in Globo Esporte, Inter Milan sent a representative to the Grêmio Arena to follow Walace in the 4-1 victory over Brasil de Pelotas. Premier League side Tottenham are another team showing an interest in Walace, as well as Milan and clubs in Spain.
