Brazilian club Cruzeiro have officially announced that an agreement has been reached to appoint Paulo Bento as their new coach.
Vice president Bruno Vicintin and director of football Thiago Scuro participated in the negotiations in Lisbon, and the new coach arrives on Monday to Brazil. Paulo Bento will sign a contract until the end of 2017. Paulo Bento led Sporting for four years, and made them Portuguese champions in 2006/07 and 2007/08. Behind the scenes, his name pleased because, despite being a foreigner, he would have no trouble with the language. He coached the national team of Portugal in the World Cup 2014, held in Brazil. However, Cristiano Ronaldo"s side were eliminated in the group stages of the tournament, and Bento left the after the first game of the European Championship qualifiers. Before appointing Bento, Cruzeiro had contacted Brazilian coaches Jorginho [Vasco da Gama], Ricardo Gomes [Botafogo] and Marcelo Oliveira.
