According to a report in UOL, Alexandre Pato believes that Chelsea want to sign him on a permanent transfer, but are deliberately not using him to keep any potential transfer fee low. The Brazilian has made 2 substitute appearances since joining the Blues on loan from Corinthians in January, scoring a penalty against Aston Villa.
It seems unlikely that Chelsea will pursue a permanent move, with the player’s contract at Timão due to expire in January. But the report in UOL suggests that Pato believes that he is subject to a transfer chess match.
Pato tweeted from his personal account yesterday, "I have a contract with Chelsea until the end of June, until then the media will talk about many things. When there is something [to say] I will tell you."
The reports are more likely from Pato’s camp as they seek to create interest in a player that they have been trying to sell to European clubs for the last two years. With only one game left at Chelsea, they know they have to act quickly to find another suitor.
