18-year-old attacking midfielder Matheus Pereira, one of the most talented youngsters from Corinthians" youth system, is already in Italy and is expected to sign a contract later this week with Juventus.
The player was already in the sights of the Italian team since the beginning of the year. There was an attempt to sign him after the end of this year"s Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, but they were not successful. Corinthians own just 5% of the economic rights of Matheus Pereira, with the rest being divided among his agent Fernando Garcia [40%] and other investors. Matheus Pereira, who has made just three appearances for Corinthians" senior team, was one of the highlights during the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, but was criticized for missing a decisive penalty in the final of the competition. According to Globo Esporte, the transfer would cost the Turin side approximately €2.5 million, but neither Corinthians nor Juventus have confirmed the negotiation values.
