Both Gabigol and Lucas Lima have been strongly linked with moves to Europe during the summer transfer window in the middle of the year.
Wagner Ribeiro, who manages the career or both Gabigol and Lucas Lima, has revealed that Real Madrid sent representatives to Brazil to monitor the duo. Professionals, including those who are part of the technical committee of Zinedine Zidane, have been watching the last three decisive games of Santos – against Palmeiras in the semifinal of the Paulistão and the two legs of the final against Audax.
He told UOL Esporte: “Of course Lucas Lima is now a well known player in the world. Real Madrid haven"t made a written proposal, but their scouts are following Lucas Lima and Gabigol. Watching games, here at the Vila Belmiro, today and last weeks. Scouts, professionals in the technical part, and the coaching staff, they have been following the games and note everything. They were here now [Sunday in the final of the Paulistão], they were here last week, and they saw against Palmeiras, too."
He added: “Now it begins. It is a study. Proposals should come in July, when the market opens. I"d say they [Real Madrid] are following, but there is no official proposal."
Among the games watched by Real Madrid, Gabigol shone in the semifinal against Palmeiras by scoring two goals. The number 10 was also lively over the two legs of the final, but couldn"t find the net.
