The transfer of Internacional and Brazil goalkeeper Alisson to Roma will be completed in the coming days. Rumours have abounded for several months of the Italians’ interest, Inter have all but confirmed the move on their twitter account.

Alisson played for his boyhood club in Sunday’s Gauchão, beating Juventude 3-0 in the Beira Rio. After the game, Alisson sat alone with his back perched on the goalposts, appearing overwrought with emotion.

Internacional’s twitter account posted the picture of Alisson with the message “thanks for everything.” Roma have taken Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny on loan this season, but have been following Alisson for several months.

The Inter stopper has undergone a swift transition from third choice goalkeeper for his club, to first choice for his country. He was handed the gloves by Dunga after some high profile errors from Jefferson in the World Cup qualifying defeat to Chile in September.

The Brasileirão season begins next week, but it seems as though Alisson has played his final game for Internacional and the formalities around his move to Roma will be completed in the coming weeks. The fee is reported to be in the region of €10m, with the move to be confirmed on July 1st. Alisson has been selected in Brazil’s 23 man Copa América in June.
