Chelsea’s interim boss Guus Hiidink has urged the Blues not to entertain a bid for Brazilian winger Willian this summer. Willian has been Chelsea’s best performer this season and with two years left on his current deal, he has invoked interest from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.

The Chinese side, managed by Luiz Felipe Scolari, are reportedly willing to pay Willian £250,000 a week to join them, but outgoing boss Hiidink has advised Chelsea to resist their overtures, “I have known Willian for many years and as a person he is very down to earth and a nice guy,” Hiddink told Standard Sport.

”When they defend and sacrifice themselves, he has the attitude to do. That’s why he is already, and can be in the future, a key player for this club. On top of that, he is doing a very good job. This year, in a difficult year (for Chelsea), he has been working very hard with his natural ability.”

Lots of Brazilians have joined Chinese clubs over the last year, including Alex Teixeira, Gil, Renato Augusto, Ramires, Paulino and Diego Tardelli. Chelsea are currently negotiating a new contract with Willian and will be keen to ward off the advances of suitors.
