After four months in charge as the club’s coach, Deivid was sacked by Cruzeiro on Sunday.
The board of the Brazilian club announced that they are analysing names to choose the new coach of the team. Before appointing Deivid, Cruzeiro were in talks to bring former Dutch player and AC Milan manager Clarence Seedorf. Deivid was confirmed as the team’s coach in early December shortly after Mano Menezes announced that he’s leaving, as he had received a very attractive proposal from Chinese football. Deivid, a former Cruzeiro player, worked as assistant coach under both Mano Menezes and Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
When Luxemburgo was fired, Deivid led Cruzeiro for the first time in a 2-1 win against Ponte Preta in the Brazilian championship last year. Later he became assistant coach of Mano Menezes until the end of the season. In total, Deivid was in charge of Cruzeiro for 17 games this year, with 11 wins, five draws and two defeats.
