Chelsea winger Willian says that he is hopeful of playing for his country in this summer’s Copa América in the USA. The Brazilian has been one of the few bright spots in a disappointing season for Chelsea and Willian says that he wants to play for Brazil.

This summer’s tournament is an anniversary edition, celebrating its centenary, to the objection of many club sides, given that there was a Copa América last summer. Brazil will already be without Neymar after Barcelona refused to release him for this tournament and the Olympics games.

But Willian is adamant that he wants to represent his country for the Copa and the Olympics if called, “Everyone knows my desire to play in both championships,” Willian told ESPN Brazil.

“But of course we do not want to fight and put Chelsea in a difficult situation, and I do not want to fight with the Brazil Football Confederation. I hope they and Chelsea enter into an agreement.”

Chelsea are likely to be reluctant and because Willian is over 23, they are not compelled to release him for the Olympics. However, with Dunga under severe pressure, he will want the strongest squad available to him in the states.
