Watford goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes says he will not be upset if he is not picked to play for Watford in their FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace this weekend. The Brazilian stopper has been in fine form for the Hornets, saving two penalties in a single match against West Brom on Saturday.
Back up goalkeeper Costelo Pantilimon has been preferred for Watford in cup games, though a late injury meant that he had to pull out of the 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Hornets’ boss Quique Sanchez Flores has a big decision to make as to who starts in goal.
Gomes charitably says he will understand if Pantilimon is given the nod, “It is up to the head coach to decide and I will be prepared to play,” Gomes said. “But if he chooses to go with Panti I will not be disappointed. He has played in more cup games.”
The ex Cruzeiro, PSV and Spurs goalkeeper says he is very happy with life at the Hertfordshire club, “I feel loved again,” he said. “When the people like Watford gave me the support like they did, from the beginning, it’s great for the player. I find my place and I feel loved over here.”
