Spain U16 midfielder Werick is one of the Barça players that Brazilian football federation are considering to call up.
According to UOL Esporte, Rogério Micale, coach of the Brazilian U20 national team, amd coordinators Erasmo Damiani and Paulo Xavier, arrived on Thursday in Barcelona to address two young players in club"s youth academy. They are midfielders Werick, 16, and Lucas de Vega, 15. They are now coveted by Spain. The objective of CBF is clear; they want to avoid repetition of the cases of Diego Costa and Thiago Alcântara, with the latter being the eldest son of former Brazilian player Mazinho. Both Costa and Thiago were eligible for Brazil, but have chosen to defend the national team of Spain. Thiago"s brother Rafinha Alcântara, however, made the opposite choice, amd plays for the Seleção. Both Werick and Lucas de Vega were born in Brazil, but they"ve been living in Barcelona since a long time. Lucas, for example, is the number 10 of the U16 national team of Spain.

Previously, CBF were successful in convincing Manchester United attacking midfielder Andreas Pereira [who played for Belgium at youth level] to represent Brazil, and participated in the FIFA U20 World Cup. He"s also a member of Brazil"s Olympic national team, and is tipped to play in Rio de Janeiro this August.
