On Sunday, Barcelona were defeated at home by a Valencia side managed by Pako Ayestarán, and Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Alves once again proved to be decisive.
In an interview with Globo Esporte, Diego Alves didn"t want to take all the credit, despite his solid performance in goal, and highlighted his team"s collective display. Alves also commented on his compatriot Neymar, who was involved in an altercation with former Liverpool player Antonio Barragán. Alves said that he talked to Neymar before kick off, and thinks the 24-year-old forward is being persecuted. He said: “I do not feel so decisive [laughs]. The whole team played well, it"s hard to talk about it. But I always try to get on the field and enjoy the moment. When I started playing football, I had the dream, but I did not think I would come and play on the fields that I"m playing today, against the teams I face today. So I take as if it"s for pleasure, enjoying every moment. It will be among my great performances, for sure, because the victory helps. I"ve had a number of important games, good, but without victory. When you win it"s much better."
About Neymar, he said: “I think it is persecution, it happens with everyone, but for being Neymar, or Messi, they always create controversies. Neymar was normal. I talked to him before the game, and [he was] very calm, no problem. I did not see what happened at the end of the game, I was giving an interview on the pitch. When it happens, everyone goes back to their home and it ends."
