Barcelona boss Luis Enrique insists that Neymar’s recent drop in form is nothing to do with the club v country row that the player has become embroiled in in recent weeks. Under fire Brazil boss Dunga wants his captain for both the Copa América and the Olympic games this summer, a move which Barcelona are not keen to support.

The Catalans are stuck in an alarming slump, having surrendered a 9 point lead at the top of La Liga and having crashed out of the Champions League to Atlético Madrid. Neymar, Suarez and Messi have struggled for goals in this time and the Brazilian became involved in a spat with celebrating Valencia players at the final whistle of Barca’s 2-1 defeat to Valencia on Sunday.

But Enrique insists that the club v country argument is not playing on Neymar’s mind, ""Neymar is worried [only] about playing his game tomorrow," Luis Enrique told a pre-match news conference, “That"s all I"m worried about. There are other times to discuss these other matters.

"Is there some kind of a magical solution? That"s football – you know that expression, it"s the beautiful game of football," he said. “If it was always the team who had the best players who won then this would be an incredibly dull sport. It"s my job now to turn a negative streak into a positive streak and that"s difficult. As you can see, so far we have not managed to do it."
