Midfielder Lucas Silva can return to Cruzeiro for the Brazilian Championship this year. Currently, Lucas Silva plays for Olympique de Marseille, on loan from Real Madrid, but according to the newspaper L’Équipe, the player hasn’t convinced the French side and is returning to his home country. Neither Cruzeiro nor his representative Luiz Rocha has confirmed the information. Luiz Rocha informed through his Twitter account: “Lucas Silva is not returning to Cruzeiro, as reported by some. He remains in Europe.”
Lucas Silva came through the youth categories of Cruzeiro, and played an instrumental role in the club’s Brasileirão title winning campaign in 2013 and 2014. Sold to Spanish giants Real Madrid in January last year, Lucas was loaned out to Marseille to gain more experience and more playing time. Despite a very bright start to his life in France, Lucas slowly lost ground at his new side and was even left of the squad on several occasions. The publication states Cruzeiro would’ve reached an agreement with Real Madrid to have Lucas Silva on loan from this summer, with both clubs sharing his wages.
