Brazilian national team coach Dunga wants Chelsea midfielder Willian to compete in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this August.
CBF have informed the English club of their interest in having the player for the Olympics, but the Blues have no obligation to release him. Willian is certain to play in the Copa América Centenário in the United States this June, and according to reports in England, Chelsea do not want the player to take part in two summer competitions. The situation would be similar to that of Barcelona striker Neymar, as the Catalans intends to release the 24-year-old for just one tournament. If released, Willian wouldn"t be able to participate in the pre-season with the newly appointed coach Antonio Conte. Willian told ESPN Brasil: “Told Chelsea that CBF had interest in taking me [for the Olympics]. I do not know if it is 100% sure, but certainly I was very happy with the interest. It is always a pleasure to wear the shirt of the national team."
He added: “Everyone knows my desire to play both competitions. But of course we do not want to fight and put Chelsea in a difficult situation. And I do not want to fight with CBF. I hope CBF and Chelsea enter into an agreement."
