In a rift with coach Levir Culpi, Fluminense striker Fred was reportedly offered to Corinthians last weekend.
According to the information from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, an agent contacted the Corinthians board to ask if there was any interest in the 32-year-old striker. Fred has a salary of approximately €200,000 per-month, and his contract with Tricolor ends only in 2018. Before starting any talks, the current Brasileirão champions wondered if the agent had the power of attorney to speak for Fred. The club then realized that the representative did not have any authorization. Corinthians would have an interest in signing a midfielder and a center-forward, and only André plays as a typical number 9. Bought from Atlético Mineiro in January, André has so far played 14 games, but scored just two goals. When contacted, a Fluminense counselor told the report that there’s a rumor within the club about the possibility of Fred being replaced by Alexandre Pato, who belongs to Corinthians, but is currently on loan at Chelsea until the middle of the year.
