Officially announced as the team’s new signing at the end of last month, Brazilian attacker Júlio Baptista was presented to the fans of Orlando City on Sunday.
Before Orlando City’s home game against Portland Timbers on Sunday at the Citrus Bowl Stadium, Júlio Baptista entered the field, was applauded by the fans and posed for photos with the team’s number 19 shirt. Orlando City already have another big name in their squad, as former World Player of the Year Kaká is one of the team’s major players. After being out of action for a period through injury, the number 10 was back on the field against Portland Timbers.
Júlio Baptista and Kaká played together in the youth system of São Paulo and also during the start of their careers at Tricolor. The two were teammates in the Brazilian national team in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. After leaving São Paulo in 2003, the same year of Kaká’s transfer to Milan, Júlio Baptista went through Sevilla, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Roma and Málaga, before arriving at Cruzeiro in 2013.
