After representing Serbia in the qualifiers of the U19 European Championship, São Paulo defender Lyanco was called up by Rogério Micale for a period of training with Brazil’s U20 team at Granja Comary in Teresópolis.
Grandson of a Yugoslavian who fled to Brazil during the World War II, the player of São Paulo opted to wear the shirt of Serbia in January. Brazil FA consulted Lyanco to see if he would want to play for Brazil, and following the player’s positive response, Micale picked him for the five-day training session at Granja Comary from 10 to 15 April. FIFA allows a player to defend different countries before reaching the senior team, so training with the U20 side will not prevent Lyanco from making a future decision. He came to São Paulo in early 2015, and played 11 times last season for the professional side.
