On Wednesday, Brazilian side Sport Recife announced the signing of 27-year-old Costa Rican attacker Rodney Wallace.
The player was active in the top flight of Portuguese football with Arouca, and has made 17 appearances for the national team of Costa Rica. With Sport Recife, he has signed a contract until December 2017. With the end of the period of registration for the Campeonato Pernambucano and the Copa do Nordeste, Rodney Wallace will be included for the Copa do Brasil and the Brasileirão. However, to be used in the first semester, the player’s name must be published in the Brazilian football federation within Friday, which is the closing date of the international transfer window. Club executive André Zanotta said: “We tried signing him recently, but only this time we were happy and we are delighted with the success. He’s certainly a player who will contribute greatly to the team coached by Falcão.”
Before Arouca, Rodney Wallace had worked in the United States, where he won the last edition of MLS with Portland Timbers.
