Dunga has hit back at Real Madrid coach Zinédine Zidane by claiming that he has proof to prove it was Real Madrid who lied about the situation of left-back Marcelo, prior to the call up for Brazil’s games against Uruguay and Paraguay.
In an interview on Thursday during the eve of the match against the Uruguayans at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife, the coach of the Brazilian team said he can display the WhatsApp messages that were exchanged between the medical department of Brazil and Real Madrid to show why they didn’t called up Marcelo. Dunga said: “It’s not the time to talk about it now. But you know me well. I have many flaws, but above all I’m clear. After the game, I’ll talk to the doctor to show the WhatsApp messages which were exchanged with them. And you will have all the truth.”
On the day he announced the list, Dunga said Marcelo was not called up because of an injury, and picked Filipe Luís and Alex Sandro instead. Days later, however, Real Madrid coach Zidane accused Dunga of lying regarding Marcelo, and the player was a starter in the UEFA Champions League win over Roma.
