Mendoza’s contract in the United States runs until the end of this year, with a purchase option on the completion of the deal. The debut of the Colombian can be on Sunday, as he is already released to play, in the game against Toronto FC at the Yankee Stadium. New York City FC also have star players like Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo, and Spain’s David Villa. Mendoza said: “It’s a team which is mingling well in training. Coach Patrick Vieira is a person who wants to win. I talked to him and I am very excited about the confidence they have in me. I am a fast player. I like to be involved in every play and help the team playing wide. The fans will see me give my maximum. I cannot wait to play for the first time.”
