Chelsea winger Willian says that everyone at the club is down about the London club’s 4-2 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League first knockout round. The Parisians eliminated Chelsea for the second consecutive year and the Brazilian says that everyone is suitably downcast.

‘PSG had more possession but we created so many chances to score, but after they scored the second goal it was more difficult for us,’ Willian told the Chelsea website. ‘We tried to the end to score more goals but it was not possible. We had to score the next goal [when it was 1-1] but they scored and it was difficult because we had to score three more goals.

‘We want more in the Champions League and everyone is disappointed but we have to think about the weekend. The pitch was full of top players, and attacking players from both teams, and they have dangerous players but so have we,’ said our England defender.

‘At 1-1 it could have gone either way. We had a few good counterattacks but they had their chances as well and unfortunately for us, they got an important goal. It is a shame Diego had to leave the game [due to injury].

‘He was lively when he was on the pitch, he scored a great goal and looked a threat so that was a big blow for us. At 1-1, the next goal was massive and unfortunately they got it. We are gutted we are out. It was a changing room full of disappointment.’
