Former Brazilian national team captain Thiago Silva has talked about his absence from Dunga"s squad in recent months.
The PSG defender hasn"t been called up to the national squad by Dunga since Brazil"s elimination in the Copa América quarterfinals last summer against Paraguay. Thiago Silva raised his arm and handled the ball inside the box during an attempt to clear the danger, which resulted in a penalty to Paraguay. They equalized and Seleção were eliminated from the competition after penalties. The 31-year-old told Canal+: “It was a bit of a difficult period for me [after the World Cup]. The president [of PSG] gave me a lot of advice because he said ‘you are the best defender in the world but you need to work more." I said ‘president, I"m always working. But in my head, there"s a problem. I don"t know what"s happening.'"
He added: “I don"t know what"s happening exactly. I"m telling the truth. But everyone forgot that even if I think I was the person responsible, I didn"t play against Germany. And everyone thought it was my fault. That wasn"t my fault."
