The major highlight at Santos last season, playmaker Lucas Lima is set to leave the club and head to Europe in the summer.
After rejecting big money offers from China last month, the player hopes to realize one of his main dreams in July this year, when the European transfer window reopens. In an exclusive interview with ESPN Brasil, Lucas Lima admitted his plan to go to Europe in the middle of the year, despite having a contract until the end of 2017. He said: “Oh, it’s tough to say if this will be my last year in Santos, because I have a contract until 2017, but I know that the mid-year window is very important, especially for me to achieve my goals. I want to win the Paulistão, back to the national team, play in the Copa América and maybe go to a great Europe team in the mid-year window. I have tried to let it go, keep my feet on the ground and focus on my game. Then, when the time is right to consider, I will do what is best.”
