Fred was punished for punching Atlético Paranaense wing-back Léo Léo during the match between Fluminense and Atlético Paranaense.
Fluminense striker Fred has been slapped with a five game ban by the Disciplinary Committee of the Primeira Liga after he threw a punch at Léo, and will play no part in the rest of the competition. During the game on January 27, both Fred and Léo were expelled by the referee Célio Amorim, who also reported an elbow by the wing-back on the striker. Léo was punished with the same amount of games and he will also stay of the tournament. The trial was held on the afternoon of Thursday at CAA/MG in Belo Horizonte, and the players were judged for “physical aggression.” If one of the teams do not reach the final of the competition, the player in question will have to serve the suspension in the next edition of the Primeira Liga. The ban has no connection with the other competitions that Fluminense participates, so Fred will be available for the game against Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca.
