Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri, who arrived at São Paulo, last month, has a contract for just five months, but he has already marked his name in the history of the Morumbi club.
He is the first São Paulo player to debut and score goals in two straight games. The 22-year-old made his São Paulo debut by coming on as a second half substitute in the Libertadores playoff fixture against César Vallejo, and scored his team"s equalizing goal. He then found the net twice in the next game as Tricolor defeated Água Santa 4-0 in the Campeonato Paulista. Waldemar de Brito [1933], Rubén Barrios [1944], Ney Blanco [1957] and Guilherme [1993] have also repeated the feat, but not in competitive games as the young Argentine – in the case of the other four players, one of the two matches was a friendly. Calleri has been highly praised by his São Paulo teammates and coach Edgardo Bauza, who himself played a major part in bringing the player from Boca Juniors.
