Liverpool’s Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino has been voted as the PFA Player of the Month for January for the Premier League. The ex Hoffenheim man has been played as a striker in recent weeks, with manager Jurgen Klopp preferring him in attack to Christian Benteke and Firmino has justified his manager’s faith.

Firmino has 5 goals and 2 assists in 2016 for Liverpool, and continued his fine January form with a headed goal in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland on Saturday. But it’s his January performances that have earned him this gong and his most notable display occurred in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal, where he scored two first half goals. He also found the net in a 5-4 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Meanwhile, Klopp hopes to have Firmino’s compatriot Philippe Coutinho back for tonight’s F.A. Cup 4th round replay against West Ham at Upton Park. Coutinho has been troubled by hamstring problems for some months now. “Divock and Phil (Coutinho) will be in training today too and are in the squad.

“It’s a little bit complicated because extra-time is possible. We have to look at who will start – they can’t all start together, that’s not possible because we know we would have to change three times because the whole game would be too much in this moment. So we have to figure out how we do it best but we will find a solution, for sure.”
