Despite finding the net three times in the two matches he’s played, Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri stays humble and says that the important thing is to help his teammates.
Calleri came on as a substitute in the second half against César Vallejo to score the equalizing goal, but was a starter in the 4-0 win over Água Santa on Saturday, where he scored two headers. However, he is in no hurry to start the games for São Paulo, and has left that part to the team’s coaching staff. He said: “Of course I’m happy to score three goals in a game and a half, but who decides whether I play or not is the coaching staff. I’m here to fight for my colleagues, I have to work for them. I have to keep training with the same intensity.”
Goals with his head are not so common in Calleri’s career, and he added: “I do not usually score many like that and now I scored two. I have to thank my teammates who made magnificent crosses! In the celebration, I did what I’m used to because I was looking for my parents and my girlfriend, who were in the stands of the stadium.”
