In addition to Robinho, who is believed to be close to signing with Atlético Mineiro for two seasons, Galo can bring another player from China to strengthen their squad.
According to Globo Esporte, Atlético Mineiro board are awaiting a response from Chinese club Shandong Luneng to secure a deal to sign former Coritiba midfielder Júnior Urso. If signed, the club have to hurry to register the player before the end of the registration deadline for the first phase of the Copa Libertadores, which expires next Monday. Two days later, on Wednesday, Atlético takes on Melgar in their opening game of the continental competition. Júnior Urso, who turns 27 next month, started his career in Santo André and went through Ituano, Avai and Paraná before arriving at Coritiba in 2012. At Coritiba, the midfielder played 65 games in two seasons, and was then sold to Shandong Luneng at the start of 2014. Currently, Atlético have Leandro Donizete, Rafael Carioca, Lucas Cândido and Eduardo for the position where Urso operates, but there are some speculations linking Carioca to China. The player trained on Saturday, but wasn’t included in the squad to face Figueirense on Sunday.
