Vasco da Gama to get €1.5 million from the sale of Alex Teixeira to Jiangsu Suning
Brazilian club Vasco da Gama will make €1.5 million from the sale of attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning.
On Friday, Shakhtar Donetsk had officially announced the transfer of Alex Teixeira to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, the same team that bought Ramires from Chelsea. The transfer fee was confirmed to be €50 million, and Vasco da Gama will receive a portion of the amount as they have been the training club of the 26-year-old. The percentage is calculated according to the time a player spends in the club, and O Globo reckons Vasco will be entitled to 3% of the transaction value. Alex Teixeira came through the youth system of Vasco, where he arrived aged just 9. He remained in the Rio de Janeiro side until he was 19, and was then sold to Shakhtar Donetsk. At Vasco, Alex Teixeira was Brasileirão Série B champion in 2009.
In six and a half seasons in Ukraine, Teixeira scored 89 goals in 223 games. Alex Teixeira to Jiangsu Suning is the most expensive trasfer of the winter transfer window, and also an Asian transfer record. Chinese clubs may still continue breaking records, as the country's window closes only on February 26.
