Atlético Mineiro already have a plan to have 32-year-old striker Robinho as their main signing for the 2016 season.
The board of the club have outlined a financial plan to attract the former Santos and Guanghzou Evergrande striker, and payment to the player will be made just like they did with Ronaldinho. Robinho is also wanted by Santos, and Atlético know that the wages asked by the player to the Vila Belmiro side is in the region of €140,000 a month. But the club expects to use the image of the player to pay the requested salary. On the agenda of the board is the participation in the sale of shirts with the player’s name, awards for matches and objectives achieved in the competitions played in the year and the use of Robinho as poster boy of the sponsors of the club, including DryWorld, sporting goods supplier of the club, in addition to socio-fan programs.
According to Globo Esporte, a source close to the board of Atlético revealed that, before the club’s interest in Robinho leaked, negotiations with the player was very close to being finalized. The board relies on the outcome of this business to give a kind of response to departures of key players like Jemerson and Giovanni Augusto, sold to Monaco and Corinthians, respectively.
