Brazilian striker Leandro Damião is still without a club, as his transfer to La Liga side Real Betis is now stuck.
According to the newspaper MARCA, the Administrative Council of the Spanish club vetoed the arrival of the player who has already reached terms with the sporting director of the club, Eduardo Macia. The meeting of directors was held on Monday, but the decision turned out to be against the signing. Damião had agreed terms with Betis, and the Brazilian even travelled to Spain to complete his move. The transfer of Damião was only possible after an agreement between the player and Santos, and the club agreed to release him to Betis for 18 months.
Although the transfer window in Spain has ended, the report states that there is still a small possibility of Damião wearing the Betis shirt, as the striker is not linked to another club and could sign after the deadline. However, to add the Brazilian into their squad, the Betis football management must convince the Administrative Council that this it’s a good business to sign the 26-year-old striker.
