23-year-old Brazilian defender Jemerson, who was included in Brasileirão’s best XI of 2015, has officially completed his move to French side AS Monaco.
Four days after being released by Atlético Mineiro to travel to France to undergo a medical and finalize the details of a transfer, Jemerson was officially presented by Monaco on Sunday. The former Galo man signed a deal until 2020, and will wear the number 5 shirt in France. Monaco are placed second in the French Championship with 39 points, but the gap between table toppers Paris Saint-Germain is 21 points. With 15 rounds to go, the team’s main objective for the remainder of the season is to ensure direct qualification to the UEFA Champions League group stages. Jemerson told the club’s website: “I am very proud to sign for Monaco. This is a big club where a lot of great players have come through, and I will do all I can to be one of them. I want to help the team achieve its objectives as quickly as possible, especially Champions League qualification. I intend to give my all for the Monaco shirt.”
