Brasileirão champions Corinthians are close to completing the transfer of Giovanni Augusto and André from Atlético Mineiro.
Atlético should receive €4.5 million for 50% of Giovanni’s economic rights and to release André permanently. Club president Daniel Nepomuceno is finalizing a deal, and said that if the deal goes ahead, he will begin the search for replacements immediately. During a press-conference on Friday, Giovanni Augusto confirmed that negotiations for his sale is very advanced. With the departure of Jádson and Renato Augusto to Chinese football and the imminent transfer of Malcolm to Bordeaux, coach Tite only has Rodriguinho for the position.
André returned to Atlético Mineiro this month after spending last season on loan at Sport. André had a very good spell at Sport, and Corinthians started making enquiries for the player’s services. Atlético did not intend to sell André before the end of his contract, which runs out in the middle of the year. The club tried to recover their investment in 2011, when they bought his rights for €8m. André wasn’t included in the club’s pre-season tour, and he was training separately since the return of the squad from United States.
