Ex Chelsea centre half David Luiz says he would welcome Brazilian striker Diego Costa to Paris Saint Germain should the French club ever be inclined to bid. Luiz left Chelsea for the French capital in 2013 and he says he would not be opposed to the arrival of another former Chelsea star.

Costa was influential in Chelsea’s 2014-15 title win but, much like the London club, has not hit the same heights this season. That said, his form in the last few weeks has been impressive. Certainly enough to catch the eye of Seleção defender Luiz.

“Diego is one of the most clinical goalscorers in Europe, it would be a great boost for any team. I think PSG has made clear its ambitions over the last four seasons is to have the best players. If Diego decides he has had enough of England and he wants a new challenge, of course he would be welcome here (in Paris),” Luiz told ESPN Brazil.

“Diego and I have had clashes on the ground, but you must understand that there are two Diegos. On the pitch, he is physical, he likes confrontation and bumps into you. It’s part of his game. Besides, he’s a good friend, one of the nicest guys you can meet. This is someone I go dinner with.”
