Corinthians are trying to complete the sale of striker Alexandre Pato in the coming days, and sees Chelsea as favourites to land the 26-year-old.
As mentioned in UOL Esporte, the Brazilian club have maintained conversations with Chelsea, through intermediaries, in recent days. Corinthians are desperate to sell the player, and has already missed out on a golden chance to negotiate him with Chinese side Tianjin Songjiang. Tainjin apparently offered €20m to Corinthians and also an astronomical salary to Pato, who turned down the proposal as his desire has always been Europe. According to people connected to the board of Corinthians, the deal with Chelsea, if it goes through, should not reach €15m. Even before leaving the post at Chelsea, José Mourinho had met Kia Joorabchian, and gave approval for the Iranian agent to initiate the negotiations for signing Pato. Following Mourinho’s dismissal, the negotiations cooled, but has gained pace in recent days.
The report states that Pato and his representatives have been working hard to sort out a deal with Chelsea which has been chosen by the player as his preferred destination. An unnamed team from the United States have also made an offer for Pato, but it’s unlikely to be accepted.
