Ex Chelsea and Barcelona full-back Juliano Belletti thinks either a move to Arsenal or to a Spanish club should be the next destination of Alexandre Pato. The Corinthians striker is linked to a January move to Chelsea in January, having been omitted from his team’s squad for the Florida Cup, with his coach Tite confirming a deal was close with an unnamed team.

Pato has already turned down a move to China. But Belletti, now a prominent pundit and commentator for SporTV in Brazil, thinks a move to a club with a high technical level would sit the 26 year old much better.

“I think he has a lot to offer Spanish football. The quality he has and the way he plays is more compatible with Spain. In England, I no longer know. Maybe Arsenal, since Wenger gambles on individual talent.

“He has individual quality. A good command of the ball, speed, the whole package. But then it is up to the coach take advantage of this, as São Paulo did last year (…). It is true that there are agents in England trying to negotiate with Chelsea.”

Belletti went on to suggest that questions continue to be asked over his attitude, “People are seeking information about the player here in Brazil. They want to know about the last season, which was very good technically and without injury. But also some things are in the press about his participation on the pitch and his level of intensity. English clubs take this into consideration.”
