Brasileirão champions Corinthians are desperate to sell striker Alexandre Pato this month, and didn’t include him in the group that travelled to USA for pre-season on Wednesday.
Football pundit Mauro Cezar of ESPN Brasil reported on his blog Thursday that Chelsea are close to completing a deal to sign the 26-year-old. The report states that Pato’s agent, Gilmar Veloz, is in England to finalize the transfer of Milan striker Luiz Adriano to China, and is also trying to sort out a deal with Chelsea during his visit. Pato had turned down an offer from Tianjin Songjiang of China that guaranteed him over €140,000 a week, and would be earning in the region of €50,000 at Chelsea.
According to Lance!, Corinthians are negotiating with Chelsea, and the Brazilian club dreams to sell the player for €15 million. Iranian agent Kia Joorabchian, who has good contacts at Chelsea, is working for a deal to succeed, and he’s seen as one of Corinthians’ strengths in the negotiations.
