Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp expects Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho to miss the next three weeks with a hamstring injury. The Brazilian suffered a hamstring pull in November, forcing him to miss four weeks of action and he suffered a recurrence of the problem in Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup semi-final first leg win over Stoke City.

Ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup tie with Exeter City on Friday night, Jurgen Klopp gave his prognosis for Coutinho’s latest injury, "It’s  three weeks [out] for Phil. But it"s muscle injuries so you don"t know exactly. It"s really rare that it"s quicker, sometimes it"s longer, so we will see how long it takes."

Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure also suffered injuries on the night, leading to questions over Klopp’s high intensity, high energy pressing game and whether it has played a part in Liverpool’s injury issues this season. "I knew about the Premier League, I knew about the fixtures, so that"s not a problem," he added.

“We work here together and we know about our situation. We know in most of the cases about the reasons but it"s often the situation that one injury at the wrong moment is a problem for the whole squad because other players have to play too much. You have to react on this and that"s what we try to do this. I knew about the intensity of the football here."

Coutinho has been beset by injury issues for much of the season- he was omitted from Dunga’s squads for World Cup qualifiers in October and November due to concerns over his fitness. The Brazilian playmaker has also suffered indifferent form of late and is without a goal or assist since Liverpool defeated Manchester City 4-1 in November.
