Chelsea’s on loan right back Wallace has been cleared to move back to his native Brazil and join Gaucho club Grêmio on a temporary deal. The 21 year old is currently on loan at Carpi in Italy’s Serie B, but he is now poised to join Grêmio as they prepare for their Copa Libertadores campaign.

Wallace joined Chelsea in principle from Fluminense in 2013 and has since taken in loan spells at Inter Milan, Vitesse Arnhem and Carpi. On Monday, Wallace, originally contracted to Chelsea until July 2018, has signed a new deal with his parent club Chelsea, effectively freeing him to cease his loan with Carpi and join Grêmio.

It is unclear for how long Wallace’s new deal with Chelsea will last, but they will pay a portion of his salary and he is due to spend the whole of 2016 with the Porto Alegre club. Wallace wants to be in Brazil’s U-23 squad held in the player’s hometown of Rio de Janeiro, which is a big attraction for him to return to play in Brazil.

Grêmio’s current right-back, Rafael Galhardo, will return to his parent club Santos with his loan deal having expired. His deputy Lucas Ramon is also set to return to parent club Londrina. Roger requires a right full-back and Wallace seems to fit the bill.
