Included in the best XI of the Brazilian Championship for the second consecutive year, Corinthians central defender Gil is reportedly wanted by an Italian club and should receive an official proposal early in 2016.
The information is from Globo Esporte, but the name of the team was not disclosed. The intermediary is Nilson Moura, who’s the partner of the agent Fernando Garcia in players like Malcolm and Guilherme Arana. Owner of Art Sports, he talks to Carlos Leite, representing the defender, to take the 28-year-old to Italy. The salary required by the agent, however, is considered high. After releasing Edu Dracena to sign with Palmeiras, the club’s board wants to keep Gil and Felipe at the club in 2016. Corinthians ensure that they haven’t received any official proposals for the latter, but an approach from French side Monaco, who were willing to offer €3.5 million, was rejected. 90% of Gil’s economic rights belongs to Corinthians, whil the rest is with Valenciennes, who sold the player to Timão in 2013. Gil, whose current contract ends in December 2019, has played 183 matches for Corinthians, scoring 7 goals.
