Once the 2015 Brazilian Championship shut down, 19-year-old Santos forward Gabriel Barbosa went straight to the United States to enjoy his vacation.
Gabigol turned out to be an “ambassador" of his club Santos in USA, and exchanged shirts wherever he went. Enjoying the holidays in North America, the youngster visited Disney, among other parks, and also attended NBA and NFL games. Besides helping to internationalize the brand of the club, Gabigol took the trip to the US to try to increase the number of fans. He was quoted in Globo Esporte: “Every child dreams of experiencing places like this. I grew up with this idea to know Disney, and other parks etc. Thank God I could realize that dream and was very well received by all."
Gabigol, who took the opportunity to meet one of his idols, LeBron James, added: “I also had the chance to meet LeBron, a guy who I"ve always admired. It was a magical day for me. Seeing [Dwyane] Wade in action is something that will be remembered in my life. Sport is able to change people"s lives and these athletes are references. I hope to follow in their footsteps."
“I also love American football. I was able to follow everything closely there, and feel the excitement of a game like this. It was certainly an unforgettable vacation. I realized some dreams I had."
