Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho ought to be fit for Liverpool’s Quarter Final League Cup tie against Southampton on Wednesday evening.

Coutinho limped out of the Reds’ 4-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend with a hamstring strain.

He has since missed home wins over Bordeaux and Swansea, but Klopp expects Coutinho to be available for their next game, "I think so, yes, [he will be fit]" said Klopp at Anfield.

"Philippe had a very intensive session yesterday but we decided two or three days ago that we didn’t want to risk [him] for this game. Now I think he’s fit. I saw him in the dressing room and he looks good. I’ll have to talk with him tomorrow – I think he’s ready for Southampton."

There were hopes that Coutinho would be available for the fixture at home to Swansea yesterday, as he had resumed full training with the squad on Friday. The Liverpool number 10 was omitted from Dunga’s last Brazil squad due to fitness concerns.
