Cruzeiro defeated Joinville 3-0 on Sunday in the Brasileirão Round-37 fixture at the Estádio Mineirão in Belo Horizonte.
Cruzeiro opened the scoring through Willian in the 34th minute of the first half, and the player became the joint top-scorer at the Mineirão since the reopening of the stadium after undergoing renovations for last year’s World Cup. Willian has now scored 22 goals in the stadium, and also equalled the tally of former player Ricardo Goulart, who was sold to Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande at the end of last season. Most of the attacker’s goals in the stadium came this season. Thirteen of them were scored in 2015, with eleven being in the Brazilian Championship – all under Mano Menezes. Four were last season, while five goals were scored in 2013, when Willian arrived at the club from Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv.
