Cuca had a contract with Shandong Luneng for one more year, but according to reports in Brazil, the coach doesn’t want to stay in China.
Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola claims to have received confirmation from a person close to the coach that Shandong Luneng are negotiating the final details of his dismissal. The source said: “This must be resolved until next Monday. Cuca don’t want to go back to China in 2016 and Shandong have already agreed to fire him. It remains to be seen how they will pay for some things related to the contract.”
Cuca was São Paulo’s preferred choice after the sacking of Doriva, but it was reported earlier that the coach wouldn’t ask to leave because that’d mean giving up a massive compensation he’s owed by the Chinese club. São Paulo are currently in negotiations with Uruguayan coach Diego Aguirre, and have postponed the date of announcing their new coach. Atlético Mineiro have parted ways with Levir Culpi, and are also interested in bringing back Cuca for 2016.
According to ESPN Brasil, Cuca is in Brazil now, and he’s supposed to be back at the Chinese club on the 8th of December. However, he’s yet to receive the return tickets, and is negotiating his release without the payment of a massive compensation.
