Philippe Coutinho was last seen limping out of Liverpool’s emphatic 4-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday. But the teams worst fears were given a boost with the Brazilian aiming for a swift return.

The Reds’ talisman was replaced by Jordon Ibe with 22 minutes left as he trudged off with what looked like a bad hamstring injury.

However scans on Monday revealed Coutinho has only a minor strain  and shouldn’t be sidelined for long.

According to reports Liverpool are hopeful of return for the home match against Swansea City on Sunday but he will likely miss the Europa League tie with Bordeaux on Thursday.

Following the match on Saturday boss Jurgen Klopp said: "He showed not a real [injury], it was a little bit of cramp, he felt something.

"I hope that’s all" he continued. "He will be very important forum, everybody can see he’s in really good shape in this moment. I hope he can react well enough."

Coutinho scored and set up a further two chances for his team-mates during the win over City and Liverpool will be hoping he can return as quickly as possible and keep his fine form going.
