The vice president of football at São Paulo, Ataíde Gil Guerreiro, has promised that the club will have a definition on their new coach this week.
Following São Paulo"s embarrassing 6-1 defeat to a Corinthians team that rested key players at the Itaquera, Ataíde also spoke about the feelings of shame. Uruguayan coach Diego Aguirre is one of the names in the sights of the club, but he was announced as the new coach of Al Gharafa. According to the agent Juan Figer, responsible for negotiating with Tricolor, the Uruguayan wants to coach São Paulo. He was quoted in Globo Esporte: “I don"t know who will be the new coach [of São Paulo]. As for us, I will talk more later with Diego [Aguirre]. He would like to coach São Paulo. It is not real [Al Gharafa"s announcement]. We have a deadline to sign the contract. But while there is no definition [São Paulo], let"s wait."
Ataíde said after Sunday"s game: “The plan is ready and we will settle the new coach this week. I was on schedule. Aguirre? I will not talk about names."
