Corinthians, who had signed Alexandre Pato in 2013 for a club record transfer fee of €15 million, exchanged him with rivals São Paulo for midfielder Jádson.
Almost two years later, Jádson has turned out to be a player of the season contender at Corinthians in 2015, while Pato is approaching the end of his time at Morumbi – without titles, but with important personal achievements. Comparing the numbers, Pato of São Paulo exceeds the Pato of Corinthians in all aspects. Corinthians and São Paulo meet on Sunday at the Arena Corinthians, but it"s a game which Pato cannot be part of, as per contractual terms. In 2015, mainly under the command of Colombian coach Juan Carlos Osório, Pato beat his own record of goals in a season [which was 19, and currently has 26] and considers this as the best in his career.
Pato has played 97 games for São Paulo, 85 as a starter, averaging 72 minutes per game on the field and has scored a total of 38 goals. At Corinthians, counting the 2013 season and the beginning of 2014, has played 62 games, but just 29 as a starter, averages 49 minutes per game and has 17 goals. At São Paulo, the striker averages 0.39 goals per game, against 0.27 at Corinthians.
Under Tite"s system at Corinthians, Pato failed to be a success following his arrival from Milan. Under Mano Menezes, he had opportunities as center forward, last man in the attack, but still did not fit in. At São Paulo, in his first season, he was used as a second striker by Muricy Ramalho and showed better numbers than in 2013. After the arrival of Osório, the striker was placed far left, by his own request, and went on to have very good performances, finding the net on a more regular basis.
