São Paulo have until the end of the week to set Uruguayan Diego Aguirre as their new coach for the upcoming season.
Qatari club Al Gharafa announced Diego Aguirre as their new coach on Friday, but that was not confirmed by the coach’s agent Juan Figer. According to the agent, the Brazilian club still has a preference in the negotiations. Figer is pessimistic about a possible agreement with São Paulo and wants to wait until the end of the week to have a definition. Figer told UOL Esporte: “Until this weekend, we will wait for the response from São Paulo. If São Paulo does not show an interest this weekend, then we will look for other clubs.”
He told Globo Esporte: “São Paulo has until the end of the week as the deadline to confirm their interest. So far there has been talk with the board.”
Aguirre is without a club since leaving Internacional earlier this year, soon after the club’s elimination from the Copa Libertadores semi-finals.
